From 1997 till 1999 I made six series of portraits from doormen working at different cultural centres in Europe. In these series I give my point of view on the differences and similarities in between the centres. I chose to take portraits of the doormen because I believe that their policy reflects the vision and atmosphere of a particular centre. I think they are representative to such an extent that through these portraits I can visualise my vision of the centre. Apart from the fact that a doorman admits the public after a possible selection- they are responsible for a good atmosphere during the evening.
